How many years have you been drawing?

I’ve been drawing since 2004

What sparked your art interest and urge to improve?

I’ve liked drawing since I was a kid, but most of the time, I just did it as hobby. My close friend – who gave me the penname, emperpep – asked me to do drawing challenge with him, when we were around 17 years old, and after that I continued to practice to this day.

What urges me to improve is quite simple; I just want to see what my art will look like as I get better over time.

What are your preferred tools for drawing?

I like using traditional media such as watercolor, regular and colored pencils, acrylic, gouache, etc. I also did digital art, but not as often as traditional art.

What are your favourite art pieces (by yourself and someone else)?

My favourite works of my own are Happy Halloween 2012 and Rainy Day.2 – 201.

By other other people, I like cute drawings that look childish and innocent – they dont have to be very detailed – and I also like children art. For instance (OC) Kazuki Mai by avrytheist and Flandre Scarlet by JanAala

Where do you draw inspiration from?

I get inspiration randomly from seeing the world around me, surfing the internet, or from books and so on. Sometimes, I can’t get any interesting ideas, even when I’m actively searching for it, and then sometimes, they just pop up out of nowhere, and I have to transfer my idea onto paper or a smartphone, and work on it later.

Have you ever been to a European convention before?

No, this is my first time.

What are you looking forward to when coming to Genki?

I’m planning to meet people in person, because I usually live and work alone in my studio. So drawing and sharing art knowledge with people would be nice, taking a look around artist booths and look for random stuff that catch my interest, and sight-seeing in Denmark looking for nice ideas and experiences.

Any final words to our guests?

Thank you for inviting me, I hope everyone will have nice experience and fun at Genki.
